Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools offers driver education classes to high school students through a private contractor, the Jordan Driving School of the Carolinas (JDS Carolinas).
The Driver Education classes for the next semester will be offered virtual and registration can be completed online CHCCS DE Registration. The dates and times can be found on JDSC webpage - www.jdscarolinas.com . The NC DMV requirements for Driver Education are:
- Student must be 14.5 yrs. Old first day of class
- Must complete the 30-hr. Classroom instruction
- Complete 6-hrs. BTW (behind the wheel) driving instruction
- Take and pass required DMV vision check
- Maintain academic grades - passing 5 of their 7 classes
