***UPDATE*** You may skip the appointment process and email your registration documents to firstname.lastname@example.org. During the pandemic, you do not need to appear in person at Lincoln Center. The Office of Student Enrollment & Assignment is open to families with appointments only. A limited number of new appointments will be added to the calendar each week.
Enrollment: If you would like to enroll your child for the upcoming school year, please fill out the 2020-21 online pre-registration form. You will be contacted via email with details about making an appointment to complete the process and the safety procedures we have in place.
Transfer requests: The transfer deadline has passed. Transfer appeals for requests received after June 13 and denied by the Office of Student Enrollment are expected to be heard by the Transfer Appeal Committee and Board of Education (if necessary) in September, after the start of school. Students are expected to attend their assigned schools until a decision is made.
Other requests: To make an appointment for other reasons, click this link https://chccsregistration.youcanbook.me and select an available time slot. You will receive follow-up information and a reminder notice from the scheduling software.
The Kindergarten Dual Language and STEAM² magnet lotteries have taken place. Students registering from this point onward will be added to waitlists. All eligible families have been notified of their seated or waitlist status. Please save the notification email you received—you may click the personalized link to check your child's place on the waitlist at any time during the school year.
The Office of Student Enrollment is responsible for new student registration, address changes, transfers and school assignment for new and continuing students.
You may complete the online pre-registration process in advance or at Lincoln Center. To finalize your child's registration, you must appear in person at Lincoln Center. Only parents or legal guardians may register students. Legal guardians must present court-ordered custody or guardianship documentation. Notarized statements and powers of attorney are not acceptable.
Smith Middle Closed to New Students
Due to extreme overcrowding, Smith Middle School is closed to new students for the 2019-20 and 2020-21 school years.
New students will be reassigned to overflow schools based on their addresses. Transportation is provided. Students reassigned in 2019-20 will continue their assignments; transportation is provided.
The Board of Education voted to close Smith Middle to students enrolled after July 18, 2019. New students enrolled after July 18, 2019 will be reassigned to other schools as outlined in Option #6 on the agenda abstract.
No neighborhoods with current Smith students will be reassigned. The new development at Carraway Village, which had no Smith students on July 18, was reassigned to Estes Hills Elementary, Phillips Middle, and East Chapel Hill High.
